Higgins Insurance's founder’s roots are in Pictou County, Nova Scotia where Kendall Higgins began his career in the insurance industry. His various roles took his family from Truro, Nova Scotia to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and finally in 1989 to Quispamsis, New Brunswick where in 1993 he decided to start Higgins General Insurance Ltd. with his wife and business partner Arlene Higgins. Together they started the business with a singular focus to do right by everyone that they got the privilege to serve.

Having spent time in each of our wonderful Atlantic provinces, the Higgins family met and insured many hard-working provincial employees over the years. It was in the early days of the brokerage that we wanted to repay those that had supported and served their provinces by working in these and other key roles to make the Atlantic Canada region the greatest place on earth to live.

The relationships that we have fostered with local unions has allowed Higgins Insurance to offer discounted Home and Car Insurance to many dedicated provincial employees and their families.
