In 2012, I contacted Higgins Insurance for a quote for home owners insurance. At the time I was paying approximately $800 per year which I felt was high. The quote that I received from Higgins Insurance was half that amount for the same coverage and my rate has changed very little over the past 5 years. " Now at the age of 61, I have been with Higgins Insurance for my vehicles and house insurance for, I think, the past seven or eight years. When I had a camper trailer, it was also insured through Higgins. In earlier years, I was with the same ‘local’ Fredericton agent for several years when I discovered that I could get substantially less expensive rates from a ‘private’ insurance company that serves exclusive ‘groups’ affiliated with Alumni’s and such. Through my affiliation with the New Brunswick Police Association, I had the opportunity to meet Higgins representative ‘Robert Keays’. Prior to the due dates for the insurance policies that I had, I received a quote from Higgins Insurance for my two vehicles, my home and my travel trailer. The insurance coverage that I was quoted, was either equal to what I already had or in some cases much better. Surprisingly, the annual cost for insuring my vehicles, my home and my trailer was substantially less than I was getting from the ‘private’ company who was legendary for providing the best rates. This was obviously not the case. What I found especially important, was the personal service that I received from the Higgins staff. No more getting voice mail and number prompts when I called regarding my insurance policies. With Higgins, my phone call is always answered by a staff member and my call is always promptly directed to the correct person for me to speak with regarding my policies. During renewal time, I can always trust Higgins Insurance to provide me with the best rates without having to negotiate every year. Costed in with my car insurance is the ‘forgivable accident’ clause. For just pennies a day, I have the assurance that my rates will not increase should I be unfortunate enough to have an accident. When it comes to my home insurance, I find that the Higgins staff always keep me apprised of what coverage I should have, leaving no surprizes should a disaster occur. Since being with Higgins Insurance, many of my friends have switched to Higgins after they have done cost comparisons. Most recently, my daughter and son-in-law have switched over to Higgins Insurance. With the Higgins Insurance office situated in Rothesay, New Brunswick, they are as close as a phone call away with their convenient toll free number. After one of our conventions I called Higgins for an estimate for car insurance, by the time I got off the telephone both myself and my Mother were signed on with Higgins. We combined our two policies together to save over $700.00 per year. We have been with Higgins Insurance ever since then. We have our travel trailer insurance also with Higgins. Our house insurance will most likely move to Higgins when it comes up for renewal. " Sunday morning on January 13th, 2018, I went downstairs and when I stepped on the carpet i noticed that it was all wet. Then I called my husband to come and see what was going on. He removed the door from the subfloor and that’s when we realized that we have had a sewer backup. " A few years ago, at 9:30 pm on November 22, my basement floor broke. Water pressure from a blocked storm drain in New Maryland cracked the floor opening a crevice the 52 foot width of the basement. About a dozen neighbours' basements had flooded about 3 hours before, but pressure simply built up under my house until the concrete could no longer take it. Water gushed in for 22 hours. Opening the sewer clean-out to allow some water to flow out alleviated the water level. Nevertheless, there was significant damage. Early morning on November 23, I called Robert Keays at Higgins Insurance. I didn't check to see whether he was the touchpoint for these claims or not but, for many of us in the RCMP, he was, and is (whether you call him Robert, Bob or Bobby), the face of Higgins Insurance, so he was the first contact who came to mind in a hectic time. Within an hour, there was an adjuster at our house. The cleaning of the mess, moving and storage of items, and the assessment by engineers and building inspectors soon followed. From then to settlement, I was always able to contact somebody; no voice mail or waiting days for a call back. The settlement was smooth, no haggling over storage costs, or what needed replacement, and no waiting for a cheque. I've told co-workers, "If you aren't insured through Higgins Insurance, you are not insured with the right company." I've since insured both of our vehicles through Higgins Insurance.
